The River Inn stands on a tree lined street in the prestigious Foggy Bottom neighborhood, two blocks from a Metro subway station and four blocks from the Kennedy Center. The hotel is an equal distance from the shops and historic sites of Georgetown and Dupont Circle. Built in the 1950s as an apartment building, this nine story hotel was renovated recently. The hotel's Dish restaurant, a local favorite, serves classic American comfort food revved up for modern tastes and offers a varied collection of Virginia wines. The River Inn offers spacious suites, which average 450 square feet, with wall spanning windows overlooking the city or the Potomac River. Each suite has a large, marble floored kitchen with a gas stove, full sized refrigerator, cookware, coffeemaker with fresh beans and grinder, and other necessities. Suites also include living areas with sofa beds and six foot wide writing desks. Cream marble bathrooms feature plush bathrobes, Aveda toiletries, pedestal sinks, massaging showerheads, and separate dressing areas with granite vanities.
